Canoe Poling at the GRWCR

The ACA Canoe Poling Clinic

Join national competitor and ACA Board Member Matt Swift for an afternoon of canoe poling instruction…yes, that’s right…why use a paddle when you can stand head and shoulders above the rest!

This classic canoeing discipline has been around for decades and provides a unique perspective on paddling (urr…poling) on a river.

Poles will be provided (you can leave your short sticks in the car!). Boats, helmets and lifejackets will be available for those who need them, but the preference will be to bring your own.

The clinic is geared for beginners and intermediates and will last one hour. Immediately afterwards there will be the annual Rappahannock River Canoe Poling Race.

Canoe Poling Race

The Annual Rappahannock River Canoe Poling Race (or whatever name you want to call it) will have classes for beginners as well as intermediates and experts. There will be a wildwater race (aka poling from point A to B as fast as you can) as well as a slalom race.

So, if you’ve never even tried it, sign up for the clinic and then turn right around and compete against your classmates in the race. It’s fun, active, and it supports a good cause.

Register here now for a ensure a t-shirt is reserved for you, or registration will be available last minute at the event. For more information about canoe poling, please visit: www.americancanoe.org
